I am attuned to change. Although I have worked in varied media such as sculpture, painting, architectural installation, video and photography, the common thread woven throughout is the tension between the natural environment and mediated reality, with an evocation of impermanence.
These works are inspired by the natural elements that I gather in the urban environment where I live. In contrast to the stability of the ubiquitous architectural forms that dominate, natural forms illuminate the profound, transient quality of nature, time and process; birds, trees and flowers in their respective life flow--growing, wilting, molting, photosynthesizing, decomposing, disappearing. Controlling this process of decay, I collect and construct sculptures for the camera that depend upon observation and the passage of time.
