For each photo in this series, I construct a temporary sculpture expressly for the camera, employing various lighting strategies and materials.
These works are inspired by the natural ephemera that I gather in the urban environment where I live. In city parks, nature asserts herself in unlikely ways, and in contrast to the stability of the ubiquitous architectural forms that dominate outside of its boundaries, I work with materials that illuminate the profound, transient quality of nature, time and process; birds, trees and flowers living or not, growing, wilting, molting, photosynthesizing, decomposing, disappearing.
